Frequently Asked Questions

Most frequent questions and answers

Do applicants need to be high school graduates attending college for the first time in the Fall?

A student will qualify for the scholarship if he/she is graduating from high school and will be attending an in-state institution in the Fall. Also, a student already in college at an in-state institution can apply for the scholarship. He/She will be eligible every year of enrollment seeking an undergraduate degree at an in-state institution.  He/She can apply for the scholarship each year he/she is eligible but can only be selected to receive it once.  This scholarship will not be awarded to a student seeking a post-graduate degree.

Does the student and a parent need to supply their AHSAA Official's number on the application form?

If the student is an active AHSAA official, the parent is not required to fill in their AHSAA Official’s number. (Although it is Recommended!) If the student is not an active AHSAA Official, then the parent is required to fill in their AHSAA Official’s number on the application form.

When does the application process begin and end?

The application form will be available in late December and will remain so until March 1.  The recipients will be notified before May 1.

When will the recipients actually receive the scholarships?

The institutions of the recipients will be contacted and the scholarship funds will be sent directly to their institutions in their names after the recipients are presented certificates during the AHSAA Officials Luncheon in Montgomery.  The recipients will be recognized and honored at the AHSAA Official’s Awards Luncheon in July.  Attendance is expected.
